Qualifying educations:
- BA in music as instrumentalist/singer from SDMK - Danish National Academy of Music
- BA in music as instrumentalist/singer or corresponding education from another Danish academy of music
- BA in music as instrumentalist/singer or corresponding education from an institute of further and higher education abroad at a level corresponding to SDMK - Danish National Academy of Music
Entrance exam (digital):
The entrance exam for jazz/pop composer falls into two parts.
- Concert - video recording
- Test in composition
Concert
Together with the application form, the applicant submits a video recording of a 10-minute programme of their choice. The level of difficulty corresponds to the concert part of the bachelor project.
In the video the applicant must demonstrate their skills in terms of theme presentation, accompaniment and improvisation.
Video material:
- The video must clearly show that it is the applicant who is performing and you must be able to see the applicant playing/singing.
- The applicant is responsible for ensuring satisfactory sound and image quality.
- You can upload up to two files with a total duration of max 10 minutes
- File format: MP4 (max 1 GB per video)
- The videos must be unedited.
If a grade of 7 or higher is given, the applicant continues to a test in composition.
Test in composition
The applicant's own compositions are submitted (duration of at least 15 minutes) in either a score or a lead sheet format supplemented with audio documentation. In addition, a test is taken in motivational development, where the applicant chooses 2 different ones based on 5 submitted subjects.
The applicant is given 30 days to compose the following:
- A composition in leadsheet format (2 systems can be used) with min. 32 and max. 50 bars.
- A composition printed in score format for an optional solo instrument. The composition should last at least 2 minutes
