About the project
The project explores opportunities to develop methods for creating electronic music and sound art with school children from an artistic perspective and practice.
In the project, students from the Danish National Academy of Music (DNA of Music) and students from Bakkeskolen in Esbjerg co-created new musical ringtones for the school bell. The project demonstrates how co-creation can be used to promote artistic citizenship and create value for both music students and primary school students.
The project originated from a request from Bakkeskolen to compose new musical ringtones for the school bell. The school had previously participated in the "Power for Children" project, where the then 4th grade class worked with electronic music, which resulted in four seasonal pause signals. After using these tunes for a few years, the time was ripe to create something new. Assistant Professor Robert Cole Rizzi saw an opportunity to establish a meaningful co-creation project where both elementary school students and conservatory students could contribute and gain valuable experience.
